Google AdWords Update – Feb 22, 2017

Converted Clicks Deprecated, Gmail Call Extensions, IF Function for Audiences

As a certified Google Partner Agency, The Web Advisors receive weekly updates on what’s new or changing in the world of Google AdWords. Here are some of the latest updates to be aware of.

Converted Clicks Deprecation

On March 15th, all Converted Clicks reporting columns will be removed from AdWords. This change may affect you if you are using the Converted Clicks column with Automated Rules, Filters, Saved Reports, or Custom Columns as your primary source to define bids.

You can read more about this on the Inside AdWords blog post, or contact us and we can explain in more detail.

Call Extensions Now Compatible with Gmail Ads

Gmail Ads previously showed phone numbers in creatives, but had no click-to-call buttons. With this update, you will be able to easily use your existing call extensions to populate call buttons on your Gmail ads creative across mobile devices, potentially driving calls.

If you are uploading a phone number for the first time, you can navigate to the Ad Extensions tab, click + EXTENSION and then select +New phone number to activate the phone number across your Gmail ads campaign.

IF Function for Audiences

With IF Functions you can easily insert a customized message into your ad creative based on a specific audience. For example, you can show a different discount rate for users that belong to your loyalty members remarketing list.
