Want to hear some incredible viewing statistics about YouTube? Every minute of every day, over 100 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube. But that’s not the most incredible stat. These next two will blow your mind. More than 1 billion unique users visit YouTube each month and over 6 billion hours (that is with a “B”) of video are watched each month on YouTube. That equates to almost 1 hour of viewing for every person on Earth, each month. Mind Blown.
If you think about those unbelievable stats for a second, you begin to realize two things;
- YouTube offers an incredibly vast medium to distribute your marketing message and;
- YouTube is an incredibly competitive marketplace for people to view your marketing message.
Each month, YouTube releases the Top 10 Ads on YouTube as chosen by viewership in the month among other factors. If your video ad makes it onto this list, you’re doing something right and the public has recognized that by watching and engaging. For the month of March, two destination marketing videos made the list in what is typically dominated by technology, gaming and humor.
The Seven Wonders of Oregon
I love Oregon’s approach on this campaign. It really showcases the natural wonders around the State and had me inspired to plan a trip there. What I love about the campaign is that this video gets you hooked, then you can dig deeper into each of the Wonders through their playlist.
